I was finally able to come to Finland. In Japan, it’s very famous that Finnish education level is high. That’s why I had always wanted to see the educational environment in Finland. Before coming to Finland, I had visited

Canada, Australia and the United States and visited local schools. Finland was one of the countries I most wanted to visit. When I landed at the airport in Finland, I was filled with excitement and joy.

I mainly stayed at Kuopion Klassillinen Lukio for two and a half months. During that time, many teachers spoke to me and I was able to interact with them. In addition, I was able to visit other schools and observe classes. I was able to observe many classes and it was very inspiring.

I was also able to do classes and events to introduce Japanese culture. The students listened to me with interest and seriousness, and enjoyed participating in the activities. These interactions made me happy.

While I was observing the classes, I noticed that the students were concentrating well in class, listening carefully, and working hard on their assignment. It seemed to me that many students had already learned way to efficiently improve the quality of their learning. There are many sofas and chairs in the hallways where students can use, and many students are studying there every day. On the other hand, there are many students also enjoy basketball, table tennis, billiards, video games and other activities. I thought these were a good distraction for the students and helped improve the quality of their learning. I think that growing up in such an educational environment will lay the foundation for students to build a good work-life balance in the future. And I believe that these educational foundations create the high levels of happiness of people in Finland.

Although my stay was short, only two and a half months, every day was very fulfilling. I would like to utilize the experience I gained here in my future life and work.

I would like to thank everyone. Thank you very much.

I hope everyone have nice days.

Good luck!

Sincerely

Toshikazu Masuda
